Current Projects

This parcel of land was formerly the home of the Schofield Woolen Mills. It is located at 372 Centre Street South in Oshawa. It is in the southwest shoulder area of downtown Oshawa close to schools, shopping, clinics and transportation. The downtown core of Oshawa has been undergoing a positive transformation and this parcel sits in an established older neighbourhood just to the west of Simcoe Street.

Habitat Durham has made the decision to build 4 blocks with 1 block being built each year. The Build Committee will be in charge of getting the final working drawings approved and submitted to the City of Oshawa for permits. The Family Selection Committee will start their initial application process shortly and will be looking for 24 partner families to work with on this project. Both committees are crucial to the success of the CentreTowne build.

We will be able to adapt end units for wheelchair accessibility if required. The homes will be built with the newest building code energy requirements as well as using Green Building techniques, making them affordable to maintain.

Please visit our Volunteer section if you want to sign up to participate in this build. Please read our Letter of Eligibility if you are a family looking to partner with us.
