CentreTowne is Habitat for Humanity Durham’s ongoing build project. The site, formerly home to Schofield Woolen Mills, is located in Oshawa at 372 Centre Street South. It is in the southwest shoulder of downtown Oshawa, close to schools, shopping, clinics, and transportation. CentreTowne sits in the middle of an established older neighbourhood just to the west of Simcoe Street.
Construction of this build began in 2012. Since starting, two blocks of homes have been completed and dedicated to families. Habitat Durham continues to build CentreTowne until it consists of four blocks of houses that will be home to a total of 24 families upon its completion in 2017.
There are opportunities in CentreTowne’s next phases of building to offer wheelchair accessible units if required. All homes are build with the newest building code energy efficient requirements, and using Green Building techniques when possible. These techniques allow the homes to be more affordable and easily maintained.
The Family Selection Committee is currently accepting family applications for CentreTowne. To enquire about Family Partnering please read our Letter of Eligibility. If you would like to participate in helping to build CentreTowne, please visit our Volunteer section.
